Olympic Games at China???

Monday, April 7th, 2008
Territories currently administered by two states that formally use the name China: the PRC (in purple) and the ROC (in orange).Image from Wikipedia

Has you must know China isn’t a free country and just now started to allow access to wikipedia. Though allowing access to wikipedia is an evolution for their system they amazingly still don’t allow access to blogs among other stuff because there’s no free speech.

China is a regime with recent stories of violation of human’s rights.

I don’t understand how the Olympic Games are being realized at China once that sports are a kind of reflection of what goes one in the society. Olympic Games are also a way of sending the image of global unity.

I really don’t understand how the committee allowed the Olympic Games to be realized at China.

But now that they’re being realized there I can only suggest that people make the world notice all the terrible acts that China has been doing.

Maybe with a bit of luck China may back down in some of the horrible things they’ve been doing.

Asia has to put a break in deforestation

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

United Nations have published a report that says that parts of Asia are losing more than 28,000 square kilometers (10,800 square miles) of forest every year. Twenty percent of the greenhouse gases come from deforestation because the trees keep the carbon dioxide inside them and then release it when they rot or are burnt.

The high rate at which the forest at south and southeast Asia is disappearing is a reason for concern because it makes the entire area more vulnerable to climate change.

Reversing deforestation so that the expected climate change won’t affect the populations too much is critical to avoid environmental catastrophes.

The main thing is to reduce carbon emissions and if countries in that area reduce deforestation and invest in carbon-reducing technologies the problem might be solved.

If countries in that area combine strengths into having more expensive green technologies the outcome of the climate change in a few years might not be so bad.

Spy in the sky comes to help Miami police

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Miami police is thinking about adopting the new cutting wedge spy in the sky technology to help tackle crime.

This small flying drone is 14 pound (6.3 kg.), doesn’t need a pilot and is capable of hovering and communicating images using electro-optic or infrared sensors.

This flying drone still needs to go through the Federal Aviation Administration for approval so that it’s certified as a safe flying instrument. After that it seems like is going to be an open road or skies for this useful machine.

The spy in the sky already works successfully for the U.S. military and for the U.S. Customs doing border patrols.

It’s a pity that we have to see our privacy attacked or diminished in order to fight crime, but these are the times we live in.

Greenpeace has made a map with the infractions made to the environment accounted by civilians.

The Greenpeace organization at Spain launched a site were people share photos about infractions made to the environment.

In this site you will find photos strategically positioned over the map of Spain with info about the infractions and authors.

The idea is to make the general public more concerned and informed about the state of the environment in their area.

Other countries are expected to begin using this idea too but if you want to take a peek at the Spanish environmental situation just redirect to: http://fotodenuncia.greenpeace.es/
