The average rate of temperature rise in the west of the U.S. is the double of what the rest of the world is experiencing. The global average increase in temperatures from 2003-07 was of 1.0 degrees Fahrenheit (0.55 degrees Celsius) while in the western regions of the U.S. it was of 1.7 degrees Fahrenheit (0.94 degrees Celsius). In some cities of the west region like Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas and Denver the rise of temperatures was of 2.2 degrees Fahrenheit (1.21 degrees Celsius) which means serious environmental problems in the future like droughts.
