Neighbor star system may house Earth twin
March 11, 2008

Scientists say that they will find an Earth-like planet in the next two to five years at the Alpha Centauri system.
This research team made by NASA and led by Laughlin is going to start research at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in
According to computer generated simulation made by the team, the most probable star system to have an Earth-like planet is going to be Alpha Centauri, probably with a planet smaller or two times the size of the Earth. Until now we were unable to analyze planets out of our solar system unless they are giants like Jupiter. Using the method called radial velocity, common planet hunting technique that looks for variations in the star movement caused by planets, scientists hope to find Earth alike planets.
It’s funny to see that like the science fiction predicted at Star Trek we might really find Earth-like planets and maybe even life…
Good luck to the NASA team!
