The Maya population might have become extinct because of climate changes.
According to the researchers from the Marshal Space Flight Center in
The data the researchers used to propose this theory came from the satellite program, known as SERVIR.
Researchers say that this climate change was induced by the Mayas because of their slash-and-burn agriculture and conversion of wetlands. These agricultural practices resulted in local drought and turned up the thermostat.
Until now this seems to be the clearest explanation about the extinction of a civilization with a population of 60,000.
