The spacecraft sent to space by NASA is doing the job quite well scientist say.

Nasa sent Messenger to investigate mercury which is the smallest and densest planet in our solar system. Beside having the oldest surface and being the closest to the sun, Mercury also has the largest daily temperature variations in his surface.

This spacecraft took almost two decades to be developed and was designed with the ability to go under extreme heat conditions which are the ones encountered in Mercury’s orbit.

Take a look at the new findings of Mercury, they are amazing!

The findings I’m posting are a compilation of the best images taken by NASA’s spacecraft Mercury until today. Hope you enjoy!

Hockney biggest painting donated to Tate Gallery

hockney-warter.jpg

David Hockney’s Bigger Trees near Water painting has been donated to Tate Gallery. This painting which probably is the biggest painting ever done in the open air is his largest painting measuring 4.5 meters high and over 12 meters long. The view of a copse outside Bridlinton (Yorkshire) which is Hockney’s present home was painted over 50 canvases. It took David Hockey only a few weeks to paint Bigger Trees near Water despite it was a major logistical operation. This oil painting hasn’t been evaluated but it seems that is one of the most generous gifts presented by an artist to an UK gallery in recent years.

Organic materials detected by Cassini at Saturn’s Enceladus Moon

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

During a close fly by on March 12 Cassini spacecraft detected an unusual amount of heat, water vapor and organic chemicals.

Cassini also detected Geysers which means that there must be liquid water not far bellow the surface of the moon and matter coming from inside the moon that resembles to the matter found in comets.

The matter coming from inside the moon is important because it can explain many questions about the formation of the Saturn system.

Scientist had no idea that Enceladus was so active and hot. The combination of heat, water and organic chemicals makes a soup were life can flourish.

For sure that this moon will be under the close observation by our scientists because of all the questions it can answer.

The bank job

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

This movie is based in a true story and is just great fun to watch.

I advice everybody to go to the cinema and watch this movie which is one of the latest greatest releases from the British film industry.

The movie is about a group of guys that needed money urgently. Fooled by a girl they went to rob a bank but…

The film is based in a true story but if you need money you shouldn’t rob a bank but instead ask for a loan. At payday loans you can borrow up to 750 pounds just by submitting a fast application form to get the money transferred to your account in the same day.

The application for the loan takes only few minutes because you don’t need to fax any documents.

If you want to pay those ‘Final Demand’ bills or have extra spending money for your holiday you must fill your fast application for a loan. You are charged 25 pounds for each 100 pounds borrowed for 30 days which means a typical rate of 1355% APR.

Don’t let the lack of money block you out, go ahead and invest in your projects. Your future is just few minutes away, go and grab it!

The west of the U.S. is warming faster than the rest of the world

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

The average rate of temperature rise in the west of the U.S. is the double of what the rest of the world is experiencing. The global average increase in temperatures from 2003-07 was of 1.0 degrees Fahrenheit (0.55 degrees Celsius) while in the western regions of the U.S. it was of 1.7 degrees Fahrenheit (0.94 degrees Celsius). In some cities of the west region like Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas and Denver the rise of temperatures was of 2.2 degrees Fahrenheit (1.21 degrees Celsius) which means serious environmental problems in the future like droughts.

The report is available online at www.nrdc.org/globalWarming/west/contents.asp.

Asia has to put a break in deforestation

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

United Nations have published a report that says that parts of Asia are losing more than 28,000 square kilometers (10,800 square miles) of forest every year. Twenty percent of the greenhouse gases come from deforestation because the trees keep the carbon dioxide inside them and then release it when they rot or are burnt.

The high rate at which the forest at south and southeast Asia is disappearing is a reason for concern because it makes the entire area more vulnerable to climate change.

Reversing deforestation so that the expected climate change won’t affect the populations too much is critical to avoid environmental catastrophes.

The main thing is to reduce carbon emissions and if countries in that area reduce deforestation and invest in carbon-reducing technologies the problem might be solved.

If countries in that area combine strengths into having more expensive green technologies the outcome of the climate change in a few years might not be so bad.
